I have herpes and this is a question for people who are dating and have herpes..Is it hard for you to find boyfriends who accept that you have herpes.. I have been with my boyfriend who gave it to me and have not been with anyone else because I'm afraid to tell anyone..So is it hard to find people to be with having herpes?

It is really hard sometimes. I got it the same way you did. I thought you had to be a slut to get it, honestly, but I was wrong. The only difference with me was my boyfriend recently left me. You have to be honest, and don't be afraid to tell anyone. It's not uncommon. I was fifteen when I got it, and I thought it was the end of the world. But after you explain it to the guy, he'll either understand or reject you. Rejection is painful, but now that you have this condition, there will be a lot more of it. |

It was hard for me at first but then I just have to look at the bright side: if he doesn't want to date you because you have herpes, then he isn't the right guy for you. I did have a relationship with someone that did not have herpes and we just did not engage in sex because he didn't want to risk getting it before he knew if he wanted to marry me (I am curently 21). We didnt work out because we were both stubborn. Now I am in a relationship with someone that does have Herpes and it is so much easier. We are both open about it and it does not make things awkward. Rejection is hard but it will make you a stronger person. |
